Exam Prep Session – March 20, 2010
Registration is now open for the 2010 APA Washington AICP Exam Prep session. The session will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the South Seattle Community College. The day will be packed with “All Things Planning” that you could expect to see on the exam. Registration is $25 and includes snacks and lunch. The Chapter provides only one exam study session a year. AICP CM Deadline Approaching!
If you have not logged your Certification Maintenance (CM) credits yet, you had better get on it! The grace period expires on April 30, 2010. Start logging at: http://www.planning.org/cm/log/
NOT ENOUGH CREDITS?
Here are some options:
- Check APA’s online events calendar and read APA Interact for Certified Planners to locate distance education or upcoming nearby events that offer multiple CM credit opportunities
- Take advantage of APA’s selection of FREE distance education products that offer CM credits (http://www.planning.org/cm/free). Currently, there are more than 32 CM credits available to members.
- If you are looking to fulfill the ethics & law requirements, APA is now offering a bundle package discount for its online courses - Ethical Practice for Practicing Planners and Hot Topics in Planning Law. Members can save 10% when ordering these courses together.
- Self-report up to eight CM credits for planning-related activities that have not been registered by a provider. The self report tool can be found on your CM log.
Our PDO, Nancy Eklund, will be sending out information on upcoming (before the deadline) Ethics and Law courses to those AICP members who have not yet logged at least half their credits as of February.
AICP Exam Study Resources
Test takers should focus on being familiar with the topics outlined in the exam subject matter summary. In addition, AICP provides some information on exam preparation that shouldn't be overlooked, including lists of recommended readings and a simulation of the computerized testing. Listed below are some other resources you may want to consider in preparation for the exam:

AICP Exam Cost Reimbursable Under GI Bill
Since 2001, military veterans (and their surviving dependents) can ask the Veterans Administration to reimburse the AICP exam fee.
