2010 Conference Includes Free Regional Short Course
The Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association is hosting a Regional Short Course on Local Planning as part of their 2010 conference, “Resurgent Washington”. One of only twenty Short Courses being offered this year, the course is being offered in coordination with the Department of Commerce and the Planning Association of Washington, and it is open to conference attendees and non-attendees alike. The basic Short Course has been scheduled as a pre-conference session on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 1:30 – 4:30 PM at the Three Rivers Convention Center at 7016, Grandridge Boulevard in Kennewick, WA.
The Short Course on Local Planning is a great training opportunity for Mayors, Council Members, Planning Commission Members, Board Members, City Clerks and Staff, Administrators, Attorneys, Planning Consultants and Citizens to learn more about planning and community development and how to be involved. Because of the limited availability of the Short Course, interested people should consider attending this one. For more information about the Short Course, visit the Short Course Web Page, or contact Short Course Coordinator, Janet Rogerson at Janet.rogerson@commerce.wa.gov.
Three segments will be presented by volunteer professionals with expertise on the legal basis of planning in Washington, comprehensive planning and implementation, and the role of the Planning Commission. Attorney Phil Olbrechts and AICP planners Michael Booth and Richard Hendricksen will be presenting.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND and there is NO CHARGE, but, registration is required.
