New Cedar River Watershed Institute 2010 Spring Program Announced: “Family Friendly Birding”

Faimily Friendly Birding

The Cedar River Watershed Institute has announced a new educational program entitled "Family Friendly Birding". Visit, explore, and enjoy this two-part beginning birding field series aimed for people of all ages. Join us for two Saturdays along the shores of Rattlesnake lake looking for and listening to ospreys, eagles, peregrine falcons and a host of neotropical migrants.

In these classes you will learn how, where and why to go birding. We will cover the basics of optics, field guides, computer resources, books, and most importantly-search for feathered friends around the birding hot spot of Rattlesnake and Christmas Lakes. This is a fun and friendly class that will inspire parents and their kids to take up this hobby and to care about bird conservation.

Woody Wheeler, Naturalist and Audubon Master Birder will lead the classes

Participants should: Bring binoculars (we have some available to borrow), note pad/pencil, dress for the weather, drinking water and wear sturdy walking shoes.
