Urban Forest Symposium: Trees and Urban Infrastructure
Plant Amnesty and the University of Washington Botanic Gardens are reprising their highly successful Urban Forest Symposium on May 9, 2011, at the Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle. This year’s event will delve into the nitty gritty of how trees and urban infrastructure can co-exist. Session topics range from technical solutions to political strategies for reducing built infrastructure installation and maintenance costs while retaining trees. Highly-regarded “tree people” including arborists, landscape architects and utility planners discuss practical steps and methods for integrating mature trees into utility corridors, paved areas and stormwater systems. Topics include how proper planning and design can reduce conflicts between grey and green infrastructure and policies and codes that put goals for urban sustainability into practice.
We have applied for AICP – Certificate Maintenance Credits. Credits also available for ISA, WALP, WSNLA, APLD WA and ASLA members. Registration is just $55 for the full day or $70 with box lunch.
