Wanted: One President-Elect
This spring, APA Washington Chapter will hold elections for our next President-Elect. The successful candidate takes office on July 1, 2012, and then becomes President for two years beginning July 1, 2013. The President-Elect is a voting member of the chapter's Board of Directors, which is responsible for guiding and implementing chapter programs and policies, as well as adopting and overseeing the chapter's budget. Serving on the board is a great way to play a role in setting the chapter's priorities, ensuring that its programs best serve its members, and promoting the planning profession in Washington State.
This position is described in the Chapter Bylaws as follows:
"The President Elect shall serve a one-year term immediately preceding becoming President. The President Elect shall oversee the functions for the Chapter and shall work with standing committee chairs to provide continuous service to Chapter members."
In addition to duties related to the chapter, the next President-Elect will be President during APA's 2015 National Conference in Seattle. Imagine welcoming thousands of planners to Washington, rubbing shoulders with national planning leadership, and having a role in shaping a national conference.
